In-house wine experimentations

In-house wine experimentations

On each harvest day our grape haul is whizzed down to Davenport Vineyards into the expert wine-making hands of Will Davenport to create our wines.  Last October we decided that we wanted to see the winemaking process for ourselves, so we kept a couple of crates of Bacchus grapes back for a little in-house experimentation and education.

Led by our vineyard manager Chus we dusted off a borrowed small wine press and set to work and here we are four months later with the finished 2019 vintage!

The verdict? It’s delicious! Our 100%  natural unfiltered Bacchus was as fresh and crisp as this winters day!

We also had a little competition amongst ourselves to name our wine and by a narrow margin the winning name was Bac-Chus - named after our vineyard manager!

Cheers!
