Volunteers are the vineyard’s lifeblood, and we rely on our volunteers in every aspect of vineyard management and development, from planting to harvesting and helping to maintain the beautiful vineyard. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us.

Volunteering can provide many benefits:

  • the fun and challenge of trying something new and different
  • meet and socialise with new people from diverse backgrounds
  • increase confidence and improve physical and mental health
  • develop new skills through training and increase career prospects

Our volunteers report a great sense of satisfaction and achievement from their work on the vineyard – read our volunteer stories.

Volunteer with us
Volunteering opportunities in the vineyard are currently available on Wednesday mornings (9.30am-1.00pm) and the first Sunday of the month (10am-1.00pm).

All our volunteers are given induction training and the chance to access other training provided by the vineyard. For individuals looking to get into work or accredited training, there is advice and signposting to relevant services and openings.

We also offer popular team challenge days to the corporate sector, that include outdoors vineyard activities.

To get involved, please contact us.

Volunteers undertake a range of activities including:

  • working in the vineyard pruning vines, weeding, tying-in shoots, removing leaves, and, when our vines are mature, harvesting grapes
  • helping on various vineyard projects, including willow weaving, bee keeping, healthy walks and horticultural-therapy sessions
  • training as volunteer mentors and team leaders, who work in pairs to organise practical vineyard volunteering sessions and welcome new volunteers
  • joining the board of Forty Hall Community Vineyard, which makes all decisions relating to the project’s strategic development.

Other volunteering activities include running stalls at wine fairs, local markets, tasting events, helping with marketing and sales, and leading guided tours of the vineyard. If you are interested in coming along, please contact us.

Team Challenge Days

We also offer popular team-building days to the corporate sector that include working outdoors in the vineyard. We are only a 40 minute train ride from Liverpool Street station, yet it feels like a day out to the countryside as we are situated on a real working farm, with stunning views over the London and the City.

“It helps give a focus to my week. It gets me outside and working. I always feel better mentally and physically after a session.”

“We always have a productive session, raise our spirits, feel that we have all contributed and learnt a good deal about ourselves and each other.”
